Sumner Ave will be detoured around through Hall, Lewis and May street tomorrow, Saturday and the beginning of next week until the bridge is closed. This detour is due to heavy truck traffic at the water plant renovation site.

As many folks have already noticed, the preparations for work on Sumner bridge have already started. The crew will likely close the bridge permanently to traffic sometime shortly after the 10th of April to start demolition. This work will last throughout the next 8 months and leave us with a beautiful new bridge. Please do not hesitate to ask questions and make sure to be safe while detouring!

UPDATE: The Humboldt Family Aquatic Center (HFAC) is closed today and tomorrow for cleaning and shock chlorination. This unscheduled maintenance is due to cryptosporidium cases believed to be linked to the HFAC. A fact sheet is attached that provides information on the germ. The pool will reopen on Monday and the staff requests that anyone that has the symptoms listed not visit the pool until they pass. Also, please thoroughly wash all swimwear and objects that have come in contact with the pool water. This germ is extremely hardy and can survive normal chlorine levels at the pool.
